Former cricketer Harbhajan Singh of India expressed his unhappiness with England’s poor performance in the current ICC Cricket World Cup. Following England’s crushing eight-wicket loss to Sri Lanka at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on October 26, the former off-spinner made these remarks. Harbhajan questioned the choice of Ben Stokes’ retirement and Jos Buttler leadership as captain of the team. He brought up the fact that the all-rounder hasn’t impressed in the games he’s played thus far.
“Jos Buttler has never appeared more illiterate. Prior to the World Cup, Ben Stokes was requested to come out of retirement, but he suffered an injury.
In a YouTube video, Harbhajan Singh said that Singh had not had a major impact on any of the matches in which he had participated.
It appeared, he added, that England had forgotten how to bat in the white-ball format. In the current campaign, England does not appear to be a champion team, he continued.
In white-ball cricket, England’s hitters exclusively dealt in fours and sixes, and they loved to pursue. But boundaries, forget it; they don’t even know how to handle singles. It appears that they are unable to play this format. The 43-year-old continued, “They haven’t looked like world champions.”
Harbhajan continued by expressing his doubt that England will be able to end India’s winning streak when they play on October 29 at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. Additionally, he said that the Men in Blue would probably use three spinners on the Lucknow pitch, which is conducive to spin.
“England will play India in their next game. They will have to accept yet another defeat as I don’t think they can defeat India. The former cricket player said, “I think the surface might be spin-friendly, and we could see India play three spinners.”
