After an absence of twelve years, India’s Jaydev Unadkat is getting ready to compete in a Test match for the national team. The left-handed bowler will be playing in both of India’s forthcoming Test matches against Bangladesh, which will take place in Bangladesh.
The last time Jaydev Unadkat participated in a Test match for the national team was in December of 2010, and to this day, that contest is still his last game in the format.
However, the current call-up provides him with a possibility to play in a test match for the first time in over a decade. This would mark his comeback to the sport after a hiatus of 12 years.
The announcement that Unadkat would be representing the nation was, without a doubt, cause for celebration. Rinny Kantaria, the couple’s wife, took to social media to discuss the feelings the bowler had after donning the Indian Test jersey.
On Sunday, the BCCI announced the addition of Unadkat to the team.
After announcing the decision to bring in batter Abhimanyu Easwaran, spin all-rounder Saurabh Kumar, and pacer Navdeep Saini, the apex cricket body of India said that they had also added fast bowler Jaydev Unadkat to India’s squad for the Test series. “The selection committee has also added fast bowler Jaydev Unadkat to India’s squad for the Test series,” the statement read.
In light of the fact that regular captain Rohit Sharma will not be able to play in the first test match against Bangladesh because of an injury, it is important to point out that KL Rahul will be taking charge of the team in his place.
While this is going on, Mohammed Shami and Ravindra Jadeja have been declared out of the rest of the series. Shami is now rehabilitating from a shoulder issue, and Jadeja is making progress in his recovery from knee surgery.
Wednesday marks the beginning of the first test match between India and Bangladesh, which will take place at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram.
Following Bangladesh’s stunning victory in the one-day international series against India, which they won 2-1, the two teams will now compete in the longest format of the game.
