Jay Shah, the ACC president and BCCI secretary, recently released a statement in which he highlighted that a number of organizations, including broadcasters and stakeholders, were hesitant to have Pakistan host the full Asia Cup 2023 due to security and financial concerns.
As a result, Sri Lanka has been granted the privilege to host the most games, however there has also been much debate over that. Rain ruined the Sri Lanka leg of the competition, and as a result, Zaka Ashraf and Najam Sethi—the previous and current PCB chairman—have criticized Shah and even called for financial compensation for the low participation in Lanka.
The most recent person to insult Shah is Shahid Afridi. The former cricketer cited Pakistan’s hosting of numerous international teams over the previous six years as justification for his contention that Shah’s remarks are exaggerated and ambiguous. Afridi, on the other hand, sent greetings and said Pakistan is prepared to host the Indian team for the ICC Champions Trophy in 2025.
“I read Jay Shah comment regarding the security situation in Pakistan. To refresh his memory, the following international athletes and teams have visited Pakistan in the previous six years:
2017 – ICC World XI & SL
2018 – WI 2019 – WI (W), BD (W) & SL
2020 – BD, PSL, MCC & Zim
2021 – WI, PSL, SA & WI
2022 – Aus, PSL, WI, BD U19, Ireland (W) & Eng (2),
2023 – NZ (2), PSL, Women’s Exhibition Matches, #AsiaCup2023 (Nep, SL, Afg & BD) & SA (W)
Have no doubts Jay Shah, Pakistan is ready to host @BCCI at the #ICCChampionsTrophy2025,” Afridi tweeted.

India will be challenged by Pakistan on September 10
As Pakistan hosts India on September 10 in Colombo, the scenario is going to become serious in the next days. Both sides will be motivated to succeed this time as the league game was postponed due to weather.
Pakistan would be anxious about Fakhar Zaman’s performance while KL Rahul is anticipated to make his comeback for India. The toss may be crucial in the game once more because there is a potential of rain.
