When the ball started to float above the boundary line, Suryakumar Yadav, who was stationed there, showed off his incredible athleticism by grabbing it, throwing it away, and hopping both inside and outside the rope to complete the catch. With that game-changing catch, SKY all but sealed the victory for India. The BCCI Secretary, Jay Shah, presented Suryakumar Yadav with the fielding medal, which the team awarded to the best fielder of the match.
India defeated South Africa in the Final at the Kensington Oval in Barbados on June 29 to win the T20 World Cup 2024. The Proteas took the game to the wire, chasing a goal of 176. With Hardik Pandya set to bowl, the game came down to a last over with 16 needed. Pandya threw a low full toss as the southpaw fired it high towards the long off, but David Miller was on the strike.
“Today, we discuss rising to the occasion during important games. Though we didn’t soar, we did win today. Rahul and Rohit, however, insisted that everyone understood their part. However, we pursued every opportunity that presented itself and didn’t stop searching for it as a team, T Dilip said in a video that BCCI had posted.
