With India having advanced past the first round of the Super 8 stage, Jasprit Bumrah is enjoying a phenomenal tournament at the current T20 World Cup. With eight wickets under his belt, the magnificent bowler has been virtually unplayable in the ongoing ICC tournament. In the match against Afghanistan, he demonstrated his abilities by choking his opponents with figures of 3/7 in four overs.
Former cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar praised Jasprit Bumrah, pointing out his unique qualities compared to other seamers worldwide. The cricket analyst said that having him in the team is a great blessing for India.
Speaking only to the ESPNCricinfo TIMEOUT show, Sanjay Manjrekar compliments Jasprit Bumrah on his World Cup bowling performance, adding, “Jasprit Bumrah is performing in the USA and West Indies just like Sunil Narine at Eden Gardens during the IPL.” Consider the disparity between him and a few other seamers; there were numerous games in which we refused to give up the boundary. They were also a global norm, but he’s looking even better when you consider all the elite bowlers in the world, so it makes sense. India is extremely lucky to have Bumrah in their playing eleven because there is a significant gap between them.”
“The kind of understanding of his own bowling you can make out, even when he got Rahmanullah Gurbaz out on a slower ball and wide line,” Anil Kumble said in reference to Jasprit Bumrah’s performance against Afghanistan and in the World Cup. He performs it flawlessly. It is what it is, you know. Sure, there are variances among bowlers; that much is true. But under pressure, putting all those variations into practice, getting the length and the line just right, right? He would have worked that out and then executed it flawlessly in a crucial game for every batsman. This is not an easy task, and I believe he has set very few restrictions for the duration of the competition.”

Manjrekar also praised prolific Twenty20 batsman Suryakumar Yadav, whose explosive innings against Afghanistan were crucial in helping India win. The pundit emphasised how valuable Yadav’s play and execution style are to the squad. Regarding the value that Surya brings to the team, former India spinner Anil Kumble concurred with Manjrekar’s assessment.
“This is the advantage India have because they have one of the best T20 batters in the world,” Sanjay Manjrekar said in response to Suryakumar Yadav’s performance against Afghanistan in the World Cup Super 8 stage. You saw once more the value that Suryakumar Yadav adds to any squad with his tricky delivery and Rashid Khan’s song. And once more, his ability to play a lot of ground shots is a positive quality that isn’t widely highlighted. He uses the holes in the infield to chip the balls. He doesn’t hunt for opportunities all the time, therefore occasionally there may be poor executed attempts to seize authority.”
“It gives India the kind of power and stroke play that you need at someone who’s batting at number four,” Anil Kumble said, acknowledging that Suryakumar Yadav’s diverse talent adds a lot to the team. It’s hard to contain a Surya when he’s playing this well, so it puts pressure on the opposition bowlers. It’s difficult to prevent him from scoring boundaries no matter where you bowl because of the nature of the field. Yes, it is undoubtedly auspicious. In the first Super 8s match, Surya is returning to this level of performance.”
