While playing for Kolkata Knight Riders versus Royal Challengers Bangalore in the 36th game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, Jason Roy was found guilty of violating the IPL Code of Conduct and was fined 10% of his match money.
Roy acknowledged the Level 1 infraction in accordance with IPL Code of Conduct Article 2.2. For Level 1 Code of Conduct violations, the match referee’s ruling is considered final and binding. The IPL Code of Conduct’s Article 2.2 refers to player actions or conduct that is against the spirit of the game.
Speaking about the game, Jason Roy opened the KKR innings after being given the opportunity to bat first and delivered a fantastic knock of a 29-ball 56. The RCB bowlers were in awe of Jason Roy skills as he inhaled fire and wrecked havoc on the field. He played a significant role in KKR’s victory as the team turned around their four-loss losing streak.
With N Jagadeesan, Jason Roy shared an opening partnership of 83 runs and scored a significant portion of the runs, giving his team the perfect start.
Following the pair’s dismissal by Vijaykumar Vyshak in the tenth over, the 80-run partnership between captain Nitish Rana and Venkatesh Iyer was established. Despite falling two runs short of a half-century, Rana kept KKR on pace for a large total with a fast 21-ball 48.
Rinku Singh and David Wiese’s heroics allowed KKR to score 200 runs within their allotted 20 overs. Although the RCB hitters got off to a good start, only Virat Kohli was able to produce a respectable knock. Faf du Plessis, who had been in great form, was unable to turn his start into a huge innings, and Glenn Maxwell also struggled. The RCB middle order continues to struggle as the batters fall short of the 201-run goal, resulting in a 21-run loss for the team.
