In the current Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, exciting Australian youngster Jake Fraser-McGurk has been causing mayhem. The 22-year-old, who opened for the Delhi Capitals, has been outstanding as one of the top hitters in the competition.
Jake Fraser-McGurk is still doing well under Ricky Ponting’s tutelage, even though he is not included in Australia’s T20 World Cup 2024 roster. Lately, the child has come forward to share some advise that Ponting provided him. According to him, Ponting gave him some advice about how to swing his bat, and it has really helped.
“I hit the ball a lot farther when I swing at 80 percent instead of 100 percent, according to something Ponting told to me that has really remained with me. “It will go for six if you just find the middle.” Fraser-McGurk said on the Willow Talk podcast, “I was like, ‘Well, that’s good, because when I swing harder, my head moves.”

Fraser-McGurk also gave Ponting a lot of credit for his ability to notice small details that benefit the younger players. The young man further disclosed that he watched the video of his knocks and noted the details Ponting had mentioned.
“I looked at the video of every game I’ve played, save the IPL, and he’s right—my head moves when I hit the ball hard during practice. It truly blew my mind how much he could observe in the little things that you would never notice,” he remarked.
