'Jaddu batted wonderfully' - KL Rahul thanks Ravindra Jadeja for their 108-run, undefeated partnership to win the game.

At the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Friday, Team India outplayed Australia and prevailed by a margin of five wickets. The hosts bowled out Australia by 188 in 35.4 overs. In the meantime, the hosts’ 40th over of their innings was spent chasing the goal.

With a match-winning performance in the first ODI against Australia, KL Rahul made a triumphant comeback. The 30-year-old batsman’s unbeaten 75 off 91 deliveries helped India maintain its composure in the pursuit. He helped India to a five-wicket victory by putting up a 108-run partnership with Ravindra Jadeja, who hit an unbeaten 45 from 69. The star all-arounder was notable for winning Player of the Match.

Jadeja’s performance in the first ODI against the Steve Smith-led team was commended by Rahul, who said that the all-rounder came out to bat and troubled the Australian bowlers. He also hailed Mitchell Starc, the dangerous bowler from Australia. ’
“(We) watched three wickets fall early. Starc was swinging the ball brilliantly, and he is a dangerous bowler when he brings the ball back in. I only tried to play standard cricket shots. I managed to remove a few limits, which calmed my nerves. With Shubman, Hardik, and Jadeja, I batted. The talk was that there was assistance on the field, but we didn’t want to withdraw and play one particular bowler out, said Rahul in a post-game interview.

“We wanted to stay upbeat and tuck away the stray balls. It was enjoyable to bat with Jadeja and we may perform well if we have solid footwork. I picked up a few loose balls as soon as the left-hander entered. For even the best bowlers, that can happen. It was effective for us when the left-hander entered the room. Jaddu ran hard between the wickets and played excellent batsmanship. He is in excellent shape and knows what to do in those circumstances, the speaker said.

KL Mohammed Shami’s performance receives praise from Rahul.
KL Rahul praised Mohammad Shami for his outstanding three-wicket performance throughout the game. By dismissing Josh Inglis, Cameron Green, and Marcus Stoinis, the 32-year-old bowler significantly contributed to the batting line-up collapse that Australia experienced.
“When we first started, I didn’t think the pitch would greatly aid the bowlers. Shami worked miracles once he returned for his second tenure. Any team that hopes to win must take outs in the middle innings. I enjoy holding wickets when there is bounce. When it moves slowly and low, it presents some physical difficulties. I like playing at the Wankhede, and the ball was bouncing about,” added Rahul.

The Men in Blue now lead the three-match ODI series 1-0 after this victory. On Sunday, March 19, the second One-Day International will be contested at the YS Raja Reddy Cricket Stadium in Andhra Pradesh.
