Gautam Gambhir was named the Indian team’s head coach in 2024 after he assisted Kolkata Knight Riders in winning the Indian Premier League. Although there were concerns about the former cricket player’s compatibility with the current team, everything has gone smoothly so far. Gambhir led a youthful Indian squad to victory in the Twenty20 Internationals after being seen having long conversations with Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli prior to the ODI series against Sri Lanka.
Even with all the advantages, veteran cricket player Joginder Sharma isn’t persuaded and believes Gambhir would leave the squad before his contract expires in 2027. Joginder clarified his opinions, saying that he believes the southpaw takes decisions that are incongruent with others’ and hence cause conflict. The 40-year-old clarified that Gambhir might have problems with others while he’s there, not only Virat Kohli.
Although I think he won’t be able to stay for very long, Gautam Gambhir is the one who should be managing the team. This is due to the fact that Gautam Gambhir makes his own choices. It is possible that he will argue with a player. I do not mean to speak of Virat Kohli. Joginder stated in Subhankar Mishra’s podcast that Gautam Gambhir frequently makes judgements that are unpopular with others.

Gautam Gambhir communicates openly. He is not the kind of person to turn to others. There is no flattering Gautam Gambhir. It is us who offer him recognition. Joginder remarked, “He works hard, earnestly, and really honestly at his job.
