Mumbai, 22 March 2023: The Delhi Capitals qualified for the Women’s Premier League 2023 Final with a five-wicket victory over the UP Warriorz on Tuesday at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. The victory propelled the Delhi franchise to the top of the standings.

Alice Capsey, an all-rounder for Delhi Capitals who took 3/26 and scored 34 runs off 31 balls against UP, stated that she has loved learning from her teammates throughout the competition “It has been a pleasure to get knowledge from women such as Meg Lanning, Jess Jonassen, and Marianne Kapp. There is so much knowledge in the locker room. In addition, there’s the exciting Shafali Verma, who hits the ball so brilliantly. I have learned many things from a variety of people.”

Capsey also enjoyed competing against her English teammate, Sophie Ecclestone “It’s always entertaining to face Sophie Ecclestone. She is number one in the world for a reason. I felt she bowled quite well, and it was enjoyable to compete with her. In the past year, we’ve played together. Hence, we constantly second-guess each other’s moves on the field.”

The all-rounder spoke on the approach leading up to the Final, saying, “We will take a few days to rest and recuperate. I’ll take a short mental break from the game. Then, we will prepare our brains and begin the great game. I eagerly anticipate the Final.”

Sunday’s WPL 2023 Final at Mumbai’s Brabourne Stadium will feature the Delhi Capitals against the winner of the Elimination match between the Mumbai Indians and the UP Warriorz. While both Delhi and Mumbai concluded the league stage of the first WPL with 12 points from 8 games, Delhi’s higher net run rate of 1.85 over Mumbai’s 1.71 earned them the top spot.
