It was revealed that top wicketkeeper batsman Ishan Kishan would miss the two Test matches against South Africa due to personal circumstances, which is a significant development for the Indian side ahead of their two-match Test series.
The Ishan Kishan decision was made public by the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India), which also revealed that KS Bharat will take Ishan’s spot going forward in the series.
Citing personal concerns, Mr. Ishan Kishan has asked to be excused from the BCCI’s next Test series against South Africa. As a result, the wicketkeeper was left out of the Test team. According to a BCCI statement, the Men’s Selection Committee has chosen Mr. KS Bharat as a replacement.
It is noteworthy that Bharat has appeared in five Test matches for India thus far, scoring 129 runs at an average of 18.42 runs. There are rumors that the visitors prefer KL Rahul to play behind the stumps; thus, he is not their first choice wicketkeeper.
Still, Bharat may also be a good choice. Even if he hasn’t been able to find his swing at the bat, the 30-year-old could need one more opportunity with the Indian squad to establish himself.
On December 26, South Africa and India will play their first test match.
The SuperSport Park Cricket Stadium in Centurion will host the opening test of the series against South Africa on December 26. It would be intriguing to observe how Team India performs in the challenging South African conditions. The team does not have a great record while playing in South Africa, but they are hoping that over the next two games, that will change.
