November 2023 was the last time Ishan Kishan wore the Indian jersey. Later, the batter claimed mental exhaustion and asked for a leave of absence because of the demanding travel schedule. He was then removed from the central contract list by the BCCI for not playing domestic cricket as required by the top board. Afterwards, in the Ranji Trophy 2024-25, he destroyed Railways.
According to NDTV Sports, Ishan Kishan may travel to Australia before the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in November.
Despite not playing for the senior side, the wicketkeeper-batter may play in two four-day Test matches against Australia A as well as an intra-squad match.
Two four-day Test matches for India A are scheduled at McKay from October 31 to November 3 and at MCG from November 7 to 10. Ishan is currently leading Jharkhand in the 2024–25 Ranji Trophy as captain. In their debut match against Assam, the team was able to arrange a tie.
Considering India Either Ruturaj Gaikwad or Abhimanyu Easwaran might be the team’s captain as they prepare to trip Australia. Rohit Sharma is expected to miss the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, and Easwaran is expected to replace him after he made an incredible unbeaten 127 against Uttar Pradesh in the second innings.
In the first-class cricket league, Easwaran has amassed over 7,500 runs at an average of over 50, with 27 hundreds and 29 fifties. Since 2020, he has batted in 58 innings, amassed 14 hundreds and a double hundred, and scored 3163 runs at an average of 60.82.
