Ishan Kishan, the best batsman for India, was left from the national squad following the October 2023 ODI World Cup in India. It was discovered after the ICC match that he had asked the BCCI for permission to withdraw from India’s tour of South Africa in the middle of it. In the end, he also pulled out of the two-match Test series.
The 25-year-old wicketkeeper-batter is currently under suspicion since the BCCI has barred him from the next three-match Twenty20 International series against Afghanistan. For the keeper position, the selectors have chosen Sanju Samson and Jitesh Sharma over him. Additionally, once KL Rahul assumed the post, he was dropped from the Indian Test and One-Day International squads.
Regarding his exclusion, there were a lot of rumors. According to insiders, he was punished for going to the television program Kaun Banega Crorepati without permission. There have been rumors that after departing the squad in South Africa on December 17, he has not confirmed his availability.
With Virat Kohli, there were conversations on job clarity: Reports
Following his comeback to the T20I team after more than a year, Virat Kohli and the BCCI selectors have reportedly discussed his job clearly. This information is based on sources on Cricbuzz. It is claimed that the former captain of India and BCCI top selector, Ajit Agarkar, recently spoke in Cape Town.
In 115 Twenty20 international games, Kohli has amassed over 4000 runs at an average of 52.73 and a strike rate of 137.96. In the T20 Asia Cup in 2022, he achieved his highest score in this format against Afghanistan, amassing an undefeated 122 off just 61 deliveries.
Even with his remarkable average and higher strike rate than many of his peers, the side is still concerned about Kohli’s inability to play against spin in the middle overs. Notably, if the squad is looking past the 35-year-old, the selectors may have discussed this with him.
