Irfan Pathan, a former all-rounder for India, claimed on Friday that the prominent Australian all-rounder Cameron Green has the potential to become the most famous player in all of cricket in the years to come.
During the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction that took place on Friday in Kochi, Green was purchased by the five-time champion Mumbai Indians (MI) for the price of Rs 17.5 crore.
“He was chosen because of the potential the team sees in him. He does not yet have a track record as a player. He just turned 23 and is quite interesting. If he realises his full potential, he has the chance to become the most famous player in the history of cricket.
It is up to the athlete to figure out how to turn that potential into actual performance. He will undoubtedly be an excellent choice to play at the Wankhede Stadium, which is the home stadium of the Mumbai Indians “Pathan explained it to ANI.
Sam Curran is reported to have always been going to be a “hot property” in the auction owing to his performances in the ICC T20 World Cup in Australia, which saw him bowl at death overs and exhibit “several facets.” The all-rounder added that Sam Curran was always going to be a “hot commodity.”
“These players are well-liked by a variety of clubs. There are relatively few opportunities for all-rounders.
When they bowl left-handed, they are more powerful than when they bowl right-handed. Curran has every right to be honoured. When the price tag is high, you need to evaluate how well you can handle the increased pressure that comes along with it “said Pathan.
Pathan was ecstatic at the participation of 21 Jammu and Kashmir players in the auction, and he expressed his happiness about this fact.
“I consider it a great honour that I was able to cooperate with them (Kashmir cricketers). When their name appears in the domestic cricket auction list, it makes me feel a sense of satisfaction. I have the impression that I am their older brother. I really hope their cricket gets better “said Pathan.
