In August, Sri Lankan women will go on their inaugural bilateral trip of Ireland. Two Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) and three One Day Internationals (ODIs) will be part of the tour.
As they get ready to play Ireland, the Sri Lankan team is full of confidence after their successful Asia Cup campaign. The Sri Lankan team will leave for the Emerald Isle on August 6 as part of the August 11–20 tour.
Although the Lankan Lionesses are experiencing a new level of success with this tour, it is Ireland’s first domestic bilateral series of the year. This year, the Irish squad has won all of its bilateral matches. However, they’ll be facing a strong foe who has an outstanding record of 18 wins in 23 white-ball matches in 2024.
With a perfect record against Ireland in all ODI and T20I forms, the visiting team has a significant advantage in the head-to-head record. But their previous meeting took place at the Women’s ODI World Cup Qualifier in 2017.
Two Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) in Dublin on August 11 and 13 will serve as the tour’s first match. This will give both teams a great chance to hone their talents in advance of the 2024 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup.
After that, on August 16, the three-match ODI series will take place in Belfast. Due to their inclusion in the 2022–2025 ICC Women’s Championship cycle, these matches are very important since they provide vital points towards achieving direct World Cup qualifying.

This tour gives Sri Lanka, who are presently ranked seventh in the ICC Women’s T20I Team Rankings, an opportunity to build on their recent achievements and move up the ladder. Ireland, which is placed tenth, will want to defy expectations and win against opponents who are ranked higher.
