This week’s three-match ODI series between Ireland Women and England marks their return to play following last month’s historic series victory over Sri Lanka. The three one-day matches, which are a part of the ICC Women’s Championship, will take place at Stormont, the site of the Irish team’s most recent 2-1 series victory against Sri Lanka.
While Laura Delany, the permanent captain, continues to miss time due to injury, Gaby Lewis will captain both squads. After playing for The Blaze in the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy in England, Una Raymond-Hoey returns to the Irish squad following an injury. Meanwhile, Orla Prendergast rejoins the team after serving as a member of The Blaze for five years in Australia. The ICC Women’s Championship standings presently has England, the 2017 Women’s ODI World Cup champions, in second place.
