In IPL 2023, on May 14 at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, Royal Challengers Bangalore beat Rajasthan Royals by 112 runs. After RCB chose to bat first, Faf du Plessis (55 runs off 44 balls) and Glenn Maxwell (54 runs off 33 balls) helped them get to a good score of 171/5. RR’s best bowler was Adam Zampa, who took two wickets and gave up 25 runs in four overs.
In response, RCB’s bowlers Wayne Parnell (3/10, 3 overs), Michael Bracewell (2/16, 3 overs), and Karn Sharma (2/19, 1.3 overs) tore apart Rajasthan’s illustrious batting order.
RCB beat the Rajasthan Royals badly on their home ground. Let’s look at the important parts of the game:
1. Glenn Maxwell and Faf du Plessis are still playing very well.
Both Maxwell and Du Plessis got fifty runs, and they kept up their great play for the season. The two of them worked together for 47 balls and 69 runs to help their team reach 100 runs.
2. Wayne Parnell’s amazing spell
The left-handed seamer got 3/10 at the end of his three-over spell. In the second half of the game, he got rid of the dangerous Jos Buttler. Two balls later, he got rid of the RR captain, Sanju Samson. In the sixth over, the South African seamer came back and got rid of Joe Root. In the first five overs, the Rajasthan Royals lost five wickets.
3. Mohammed Siraj sells Yashasvi Jaiswal for a duck.
The right-arm seamer did it again with the first ball, getting Yashasvi Jaiswal out for a duck on the second ball of the game. In the last match between RCB and RR this season, he got rid of Jos Buttler in the first over, giving RCB a great start. Siraj has been great with the new ball all season. In 12 games, he has taken 16 wickets.
Faf du Plessis, the captain who won, said, “Really good for our NRR.” Hard ball. We went up to bat first and took a look at the field. We got to bat with an advantage and thought that 160 would be a good score. We’ve been doing well until the 15th. But we were able to take advantage of the change in speed at the end. Great job.
Bracewell would want to bowl every day of the week on this lane. We needed a left-arm spinner. Shahbaz might have been a possible choice. A hand spin could have been a way to attack. We’ll try to get it ready for the last game at Chinnaswamy. The team had a good day today. For the last two games, they needed this trust.
Losing skipper Sanju Samson said, “I think our top three were scoring a lot of runs. We work hard in the powerplay, but it didn’t work today.” I don’t think it’s time yet to break down or examine the game. You have to go hard on the power play because you know the ball is getting slower and older. Jaiswal, Jos, and I have always played this way. The RCB bowlers deserve praise for how hard they worked. I think this was a game that could have come down to the wire.
If we had a good power play, I thought it would be close. I was just wondering, after seeing the batsmen fail, what went wrong? I don’t think I know yet how to answer that. We all know how the IPL works, and we’ve all seen funny things happen during the league stage. We have to stay strong, take a day off, and think about the game in Dharamshala. I think we need a strong ending. As a team, we have to take responsibility for this achievement.
Wayne Parnell, who won Player of the Match (3/10), said, “Of course, our batters deserve credit.” We got a boost from the last over. We could do a good job. The message was to slow the ball down. Throw it at the poles. We were able to do everything we planned. It was low, slow, and slippery. I was trying to get them to play in the other direction. I was getting ready when I wasn’t playing. It’s a long event, so you have to be on your game every time.
