In the IPL 2024 auction, the Rajasthan Royals paid INR 5.8 crore to acquire Indian batter Shubham Dubey, who was uncapped. During his career, he has participated in 20 Twenty20 matches and amassed 485 runs with a strike rate of 145.20. Although the Delhi Capitals participated in the bidding war, the Rajasthan Royals emerged victorious in the end.
Remarkably, the 29-year-old was instrumental in helping Vidarbha win the just-completed Vijay Hazare Trophy. But the batter’s outstanding performance in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Tournament (SMAT) impressed talent scouts from several teams. He ultimately attracted a lot of teams during the auction as a result, and Rajasthan signed him before the 2024 Indian Premier League.
Shubham Dubey is known for being a finisher and typically bats later in the order. At a strike rate of 187.28, he amassed 221 runs in seven innings, making him the top run scorer for Vidarbha in the SMAT. As an impact player, Dubey scored 58 runs in just 20 balls against Bengal during the tournament, helping Vidarbha to a 213-run victory with 13 balls remaining.

The team was searching for an explosive finisher because Riyan Parag has not yet shown himself in the IPL.
