On Monday, April 1, at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, the Mumbai Indians (MI) will host the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the first home game of the season. Sanju Samson, the captain of RR, urged Mumbai to bat first after winning the toss. However, Rohit Sharma’s removal for a golden duck in the first over by new-ball expert Trent Boult prevented the hosts from having a memorable start to their innings.
Boult hit the MI opener with a good-length delivery that shaped away from him and went straight to wicketkeeper Sanju Samson. The entire stadium, which had gathered to watch Rohit bat, fell silent as he was dismissed, and the former Mumbai captain made the lengthy trek back to the pavilion.
By trapping Naman Dhir in front of the stumps with an inswinger on the very next delivery, Boult added further agony for the hosts and left MI reeling at 1/2 at the end of the first over.

Following his return, the Kiwi seamer took out Dewald Brevis (0 off 1) in his following over, leaving MI in serious difficulty at 14/3 after 2.2 overs. Thanks to his brilliant opening spell, Boult finished with figures of 3/14 in three overs. To put MI on 20/4, Nandre Burger, on the other hand, joined the celebration by dismissing Ishan Kishan (16 off 14) in the fourth over.
