In Match 9 of IPL 2024, which takes place on Thursday, March 28 at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, captain of the Delhi Capitals (DC) Rishabh Pant will play in his 100th IPL match. Notably, Pant will become the first player to play 100 games for his team after making his Delhi debut in 2016.
Following a near-fatal accident in December 2022, the 26-year-old made his eagerly anticipated return to the cricket pitch during DC’s season-opening match against the Punjab Kings. In addition to scoring 18 (13) in his comeback game, the southpaw also caused a stumping and made a spectacular glove catch. He was unable to prevent a four-wicket loss for his team, though.
Pant has amassed 2856 runs from 98 innings at an average of 34.41 and a strike rate of 147.90, including one hundred and fifteen fifty-scores, making him the greatest run scorer for Delhi in IPL history. In 2018, he had his breakout season, finishing as the second-highest run scorer of the edition with 684 runs from 14 innings at an average of 52.61, a strike rate of 173.6, and five fifty-score runs.
In 2021, DC named Rishabh Pant as their captain.
The cricket player from Haridwar achieved the greatest knock in the history of the competition when facing Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the 42nd match of the 2018 season. After four overs, Pant came in to bat with his team down 21/2. With a brilliant knock of 128* (63), he was able to lift them to a score of 187/5. Harshal Patel’s 24 (17) was Delhi’s second-best score of the inning.
