At the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Friday, PBKS pulled off an uncommon achievement by successfully chasing a goal of 262 runs set by Kolkata Knight Riders. In T20 cricket history, this was the highest-ever chase.
With this victory, PBKS rose to the eighth position in the league rankings, while KKR, who had suffered their third loss of the year, held onto the second position.
For those who are unaware, the league’s top four teams will advance to the IPL 2024 playoffs. In the first qualifier, the top two teams will play one another, with the victor moving on to the final. The third and fourth-placed teams in the IPL 2024 rankings will play each other in the Eliminator.
The losing team from Qualifier 1 will then play the victor of the Eliminator. The victor of the second qualifier will move on to the final, which is set for May 26.
This season, KKR has won five of their nine games, which puts them in a strong position to make the playoffs. To make sure they don’t experience a sharp decline in performance towards the end of the season, they still have a few games remaining to win. They need to score at least four more points to make the playoffs, as they currently have 10 points from 8 games.
KKR wants to enter the playoffs without any problems.
While several teams have advanced to the postseason with 14 points in the past, they typically place third or fourth. KKR should try to win three of their next six games in order to increase their chances of placing in the top two and take advantage of the benefits.

We must enumerate the circumstances and devise more sensible solutions. At the post-match presentation, KKR captain Shreyas Iyer remarked, “It is brilliant to see him (Narine) go out there and strike the ball. Hopefully, he keeps continuing with such performances.”
