IPL 2023: Harry Brook makes a joke about his family fleeing India just prior to scoring a magnificent century against KKR.

On Friday, April 14 at Eden Gardens in Kolkata, England’s Harry Brook eventually lived up to his reputation in the ongoing 16th season of the Indian Premier League. He scored 100* off 55 balls against Kolkata Knight Riders. Brook scored the first century of the current season by assisting Sunrisers Hyderabad to an enormous first innings total of 228 for four runs.

In his first three innings, the 24-year-old batsman scored only 29 runs and failed to validate his INR 13.25 crore price tag. Nonetheless, he silenced his detractors with a remarkable innings while opening for the second time this season.

Brook joked to the commentators after his incredible innings that he couldn’t score runs while his family was in India, but as soon as they departed he scored a century, leaving the commentators in fits of laughter.

“My girlfriend is present, but my family has just left.” I was certain that I would experience diarrhea after their departure (laughter). Brook stated to the broadcasters, “No, I’m sure they’ll all be very happy for me.”

Markram and Abhishek Sharma lent support to Brook.
Brook’s innings featured three sixes and twelve fours, as he came to the crease with an aggressive mindset and continued to strike the bowlers despite his team losing two wickets in the powerplay. He was well supported by captain Aiden Markram, who scored 50 runs off 26 deliveries, as the pair added 72 runs off 47 balls for the third wicket.

He then participated in a 72-run partnership with Abhishek Sharma off just 33 deliveries, bringing SRH’s total past 220. Half centuries from Nitish Rana (75 off 41 balls) and Rinku Singh (58* off 31 balls) helped Kolkata reach 205/7 in their allotted 20 overs in their second innings.
