For bowlers, Renuka Singh has surged to 18th place in the ICC Women’s T20I Rankings for bowlers following her performance in the Commonwealth Games.
ICC Women’s T20I Rankings bowler Renuka Singh has surged to the 18th rank after finishing as the best wicket-taker at the Commonwealth Games 2022. For the first time, Renuka has made it into the world’s top 20 with 11 wickets. After this performance, she climbed 10 places. The ICC Women’s T20I Player Rankings also show that Australian opener Beth Mooney has recovered the top rank for hitters after losing it to her captain Meg Lanning a few weeks ago.
Mooney finished the tournament as the tournament’s leading run-scorer with 179 runs in the final match against India. She’s already 18 points ahead of Lanning in the ratings after victories over Pakistan (70) and New Zealand (36), both this past week.
Once again, she has topped the charts, having previously held that position from March 8, 2020 to March 21, 2021 and from October 9, 2020 to July 26, 2022 in her professional career.
Tahlia McGrath, Mooney’s teammate, has continued to soar. It’s her first time in the top five with the bat and her 12th spot on the all-rounders’ list after 14 games with a batting average and bowling average of 13.66.
Jemimah Rodrigues’s return to form in Birmingham helped her gain seven ranks and return to the top 10 hitters for the first time since October 2021, when she racked up 146 runs.
England may not have won a medal, but their bowlers occupy the top three slots in the world rankings in the discipline. Previously ranked third, fast bowler Katherine Brunt has moved up to second after trading places with Sarah Glenn. This is Brunt’s highest ranking in 11 years. With a 34-point lead over Brunt, left-arm spinner Sophie Ecclestone maintains her position at the top of the rankings.
Anneke Bosch (up five spots to 20th) and Tazmin Brits (up six spots to 22nd) both hail from South Africa, and Pakistan’s Javeria Khan and India’s Deepti Sharma (up two spots each to 32nd and 36th) are the other two batters to make significant gains.
Megan Schutt and Shabnim Ismail, both of South Africa, have moved up two spots to take up the fourth and fifth spots in the bowlers’ standings, respectively. Nonkululeko Mlaba of South Africa and Radha Yadav of India are currently in eighth and fourteenth place, respectively, in the women’s left-arm spin rankings.
New Zealander Haley Jensen (13th), Australian Ashleigh Gardner (22nd) and South African Nadine de Klerk (28th) have all gained ground in the rankings.
Gardner, who scored 96 runs at a strike rate of 137.14 and took five wickets at an economy rate of 4.20 to lead all all-rounders, is now second only to Sophie Devine, who led New Zealand to the bronze medal.
