In order to help former India batter Anshuman Gaikwad, who is battling blood cancer in a London hospital, the BCCI has decided to donate INR 1 lakh to his medical care.
Following appeals from Kapil Dev and Sandeep Patil to the board to support Anshuman Gaikwad, the BCCI made their decision.
“Mr Jay Shah has instructed the BCCI to release INR 1 crore with immediate effect to provide financial assistance to India’s veteran cricketer Mr Anshuman Gaikwad, who is battling cancer,” the BCCI stated in a statement.
The statement went on, “Shah has also spoken to Mr. Gaekwad’s family to take stock of the situation and extend support.” “The board is supporting Gaekwad’s family during this difficult time and will take all necessary steps to ensure Mr. Gaekwad recovers quickly.
“The BCCI will continue to monitor Mr Gaekwad’s progress and is confident that he will come out of this phase strongly.”
