India’s Team List and Squad Specifics for the 2024 T20 World Cup

The 15-member Indian squad for the 2024 T20 World Cup was revealed on Tuesday, April 30, by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The tournament is scheduled to take place in June in the USA and the West Indies.

Hardik Pandya has been selected as vice captain, with Rohit Sharma continuing to lead the team. Virat Kohli’s spot on the team wasn’t guaranteed, according to some reports. Nevertheless, the former captain of India has been picked, and after 11 years, he will want to help India win the coveted ICC trophy.

After a 14-month absence, Rishabh Pant made his professional cricket comeback during the current Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2024. He has since secured a spot on the team. The other wicketkeeping option in the lineup is Sanju Samson. But the 15-man roster does not have room for the seasoned KL Rahul.

After putting up strong performances during the IPL 2024, Shivam Dube and the seasoned Yuzvendra Chahal have secured their spots in the team. Apart from captain Rohit, the only other designated opening batsman in the team is Yashasvi Jaiswal. Arshdeep Singh, Mohammed Siraj, and Jasprit Bumrah are the three specialist pacers on the team.

The team’s all-around spin bowlers are Axar Patel and Ravindra Jadeja. Aside from Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav is the other front-line spinner. It follows that a “Kul-Cha” reunion could occur during the main event. Along with the first fifteen players, the Rohit Sharma-led team has also picked four reserve players. The reserves are Avesh Khan, Shubman Gill, Rinku Singh, and Khaleel Ahmed.

Among the four reserves, Rinku will think himself the unluckiest. In the game’s shortened format prior to the IPL, he performed admirably for the Men in Blue. In 15 Twenty20 Internationals, the southpaw amassed 356 runs at an astounding average of 89 and a phenomenal strike rate of 176.24. Nevertheless, he hasn’t had many opportunities to prove himself in the IPL 2024 because the Kolkata Knight Riders’ top-order hitters have been playing at a great level.
