Shafali Verma, a standout batter for the Indian women’s cricket team, has been selected to lead the Indian squad in the ICC Under-19 Women’s World Cup.
The BCCI released a statement that included the following information: “The All-India Women’s Selection Committee has named India U19 Women’s squad for the next bilateral away T20 series against South Africa U19 and the ICC U19 Women’s World Cup.”
From the 14th to the 29th of January in 2023, South Africa will play host to the first-ever ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup. The tournament will include 16 different teams.
The nation of India will compete against South Africa, the United Arab Emirates, and Scotland as part of Group D. The three teams who finish in first, second, and third place in each group will advance to the Super Six round. In this stage, the teams will be divided into two groups of six.
The top two teams from each group will then advance to the semi-finals, which will be contested on January 27 at JB Marks Oval in Potchefstroom. The winner of the semi-finals will win the tournament. The championship match will be played on January 29 at the same location as the semifinals.
Shafali Verma will serve as the captain of the India U19 Women’s team for the ICC Under-19 Women’s World Cup. Shweta Sehrawat will serve as the vice captain of the team.
