In the aftermath of India’s victory over Sri Lanka in the second one-day international (ODI), captain Rohit Sharma praised spinner Kuldeep Yadav for his performance and the way he dragged back his side into the game. He also said that the bowler’s confidence augurs well for the squad.
In his 50th One-Day International (ODI), KL Rahul notched a half-century without losing a wicket, which was a key factor in India’s victory against Sri Lanka by four wickets in the second ODI played at Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Thursday.
“The game was intense, but competitions of this nature are invaluable learning experiences. Under intense pressure, we had to construct an inning. Since a significant amount of time now, KL has been batting in the fifth spot, which provides us with depth.
That not only gives me confidence, but also gives you confidence at the top of the order, which allows us to bat more freely. Rohit commented on KL and the team’s batting effort, stating that it was an impressive show of batsmanship.
The captain of Team India stated that although it would be beneficial to have a left-handed specialist batter on the team, there is still quality in the right hands of players who are able to “tackle situations when put under duress.”
In regard to potential lineup adjustments for the last one-day international, Rohit stated, “We have not thought about it yet; once we go there, we will have a look at the pitch and have a look at some of our guys.”
Because there are three One-Day Internationals coming up against New Zealand, we need to make sure that our players are well rested. We still have a long season ahead of us, and it is imperative that we keep everything in mind. Should it be necessary, we will make some adjustments.”
It was amazing that Kuldeep Yadav was able to come back after missing so much time and play as well as he did tonight. We were able to get back into the game thanks to him.
They were batting at a rate of one run per delivery when Kuldeep, like we have witnessed quite frequently, came in and took a wicket. According to Rohit, who came to the conclusion, “He’s quite confident as a bowler right now, and it definitely augurs well with the squad.”
Due to his outstanding performance with the ball, Kuldeep Yadav was awarded the title of “Man of the Match.”
