Ambati Rayudu, a former Indian cricket player who won the IPL with both CSK and Mumbai, recently spoke with reporters about his career, the success of the Indian team in the ODI World Cup 2023, and a variety of other topics pertaining to his personal and professional lives.
Regarding his career, he conveyed his dissatisfaction with the way it concluded and the way the team management handled him. Rayudu said that his quiet and collected manner gave the team management the impression that he lacked confidence, which he described as “stupid logic.” In addition, he said he never asked for favors from anyone and lamented being cut from the squad after just one subpar game.
When questioned whether he should have been given more opportunities by the team management at the international level, Ambati Rayudu responded, “Everybody’s story is going to be different, but I’m happy that I never asked anybody for any favor,” on The Ranveer Show, a YouTube podcast.
He stated that both of India’s World Cup losses to Australia in 2003 and 2023 will hurt for a very long time, but that India had a much stronger team in 2023. This was in response to a question regarding which loss would hurt India more.
“This time, definitely, we were a stronger side, but I think Australia was much stronger than us,” he remarked.
The skill component made 2011 a superior Indian team overall: Ambati Rayudu
Ambati Rayudu responded that the 2011 World Cup-winning team captained by MS Dhoni was a better Indian side overall due to the skill aspect, experience, and everything else when asked if he has seen a better Indian side than this one in general. Nevertheless, in every World Cup he has ever witnessed, this 2023 team has performed the best.
This Indian team, in my opinion, is the greatest I’ve watched compete in a World Cup. Because of their talent level, experience, and other factors, the Indian team in 2011 was generally superior, but Rayudu continued, “I think this team played the best in all the World Cups that I have seen.”
