Following the end of India’s current five-T20I match against Australia, South Africa and India will play a multi-format series. Three T20Is, three ODIs, and two Test matches will pit India against the Proteas.
Meanwhile, former South African hitter AB de Villiers is left yearning for more Test matches between India and South Africa, as there are just two scheduled. The 39-year-old expressed his opinion that the rivalry between South Africa and India is not adequately represented by only holding two Test matches.
“From the perspective of South Africa, these two tests are frustrating. When playing in India’s, India’s receives its fair share of three to four tests per series. These Test matches are against England, Australia, and India. It is unfortunate because there is a strong rivalry and rich history between these two teams. Players from India adore visiting South Africa. In a video posted to his YouTube page, AB de Villiers stated that “two tests does not do justice to the rivalry.”
I would have requested quick and bounce wickets: AB de Villiers
Additionally, AB de Villiers discussed the kinds of pitches he would have requested. According to the former batsman, he would have aimed for pitches that had bounce and pace to give South Africa the best chance of beating India.
“I would have requested wickets with bounce and pace if I had been in the South Africa camp. The two things listed above are what will enable South Africa to defeat India. Not too much seam movement, because that can also be extracted by Indian pacers. South Africa has the circumstances to their advantage, but the Indian team has a little more class and is more determined to win this time, according to de Villiers.
