The new bowling coach for the Indian men’s team is Morne Morkel, a former cricket player from South Africa. His contract is reportedly scheduled to begin on September 1st, and Jay Shah, the secretary of the BCCI, recently verified the information.
Reports surfaced a few weeks ago suggesting that Morne Morkel would become a member of India’s coaching staff. It has been reported that Gautam Gambhir, the head coach of India, had recommended Morkel’s hiring.
They do have a good relationship off the pitch, as Gambhir previously declared, calling Morkel one of the best bowlers he has ever faced. Fans are anticipating the couple’s second reunion as they have previously collaborated when playing together for the Lucknow Super Giants.
Under new head coach Justin Langer, Morne Morkel remained in the role for the team even after Gambhir departed the Lucknow Super Giants to become the trainer of the Kolkata Knight Riders.
It is noteworthy that T. Dilip, who has been the team’s fielding coach for a while, and assistant coaches Abhishek Nayar and Ryan ten Doeschate make up Gambhir’s coaching staff.
It’s interesting to note that Morne Morkel left from his position as Pakistan’s bowling coach a few months prior to the end of his contract, having last led the team in the ODI World Cup 2023.
Morne Morkel, who just lost an ODI series to Sri Lanka, will be eager to make the necessary adjustments to the team. Team India’s next match is a considerable distance away.

In a multi-format series, the Indian squad will next play Bangladesh. The former Proteas player Morkel will be coaching India for the first time, therefore he will be looking for a strong start in the two Tests and three Twenty20 International matches between the two teams.
