In Pallekele, India easily trounced Sri Lanka by a margin of 43 runs. India were outstanding when they batted first because they were able to play a physical style of cricket. In white-ball cricket, Rohit Sharma instituted it. Under the new leadership, the Men in Blue were able to maintain it and secured the series’ opening Twenty20 International.
India’s opening pair, Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal, set the tone for the team with a vital partnership of 74 runs. Jaiswal scored 40 runs off of 21 deliveries, while Gill hammered 34 runs off of 16 deliveries. Subsequently, with 26 deliveries for 58 runs, recently named T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav took care of business. He created the perfect atmosphere for the game by hitting the bowlers all over the place.
Following his termination, Rishabh Pant managed the company. The keeper-batter started off as an anchor but picked up speed in the latter stages, scoring 49 runs off just 33 deliveries. In the opening innings, India scored 213 runs, however their lower middle order fell short of expectations. With the ball, Matheesha Parthirana was the standout performer for Sri Lanka, taking four wickets.
India appeared to be having difficulties in the first half when it came to the run chase. The Men in Blue were briefly placed on the back foot as the hosts also got off to a strong start. Pathum Nissanka hammered 79 runs off 48 deliveries, while Kusal Mendis, the opener, scored 45 runs off 27 deliveries. Although the two gave the other batters the necessary energy to win it, Sri Lanka ultimately lost badly.

Indian bowlers placed pressure on Sri Lanka after taking Nissanka’s wicket, and the Lankans were unable to respond. The hosts lost the match in an instant as wickets tumbled like a house of cards. With just eight deliveries, Riyan Parag claimed three wickets, while Axar Patel and Arshdeep Singh each claimed two wickets. In order for Sri Lanka to win the series, its hitters must greatly improve.

India win by 43 runs which looks comfortable but it was not .Sri Lanka were needing 56 runs in last 4 overs with 6 wickets remaining and then they met with a collapse to lose last 7 wickets for only 12 runs 😭 #SLvIND https://t.co/btQaNmG5O0

On many occasions lately India finished with above par totals in T20Is by small contributions at high SRs rather than long innings with average SRs. They scored 213-7 today vs SL without any batter facing more than 33 balls. #SLvInd
