The senior national team committee of the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) is said to have finalised the 15-man roster for team India in advance of the ODI World Cup 2023, according to a number of recent claims that have surfaced. In order to choose the Indian team that would compete in the World Cup, the chairman of the selection committee, Ajit Agarkar, travelled to Sri Lanka to meet with the head coach, Rahul Dravid, and the captain, Rohit Sharma. According to what has been stated, star batter Sanju Samson was unable to gain a place in the squad, although KL Rahul continued to be one of the top options for the team.
In addition to that, the selection committee spent a lot of time talking about KL Rahul’s fitness problems. It wasn’t until the medical staff gave the star batter a clean bill of health that he was added to the roster for the major competition. Prior to that, there was some concern about whether or not he was physically capable of competing. Additionally, it is anticipated that KL Rahul will soon be boarding a flight to Sri Lanka in order to join India for the Asia Cup 2023.
The BCCI could have waited until the deadline to submit their roster for the ODI World Cup 2023, which is on September 5, but because almost all of their players were available, they decided not to. Recently, Ajit Agarkar also came up to imply that India’s World Cup team will be selected from the pool of players that travelled to Sri Lanka to play in the Asia Cup 2023. The reported squad does seem to follow that trend, since it is comprised of players who were in Sri Lanka for the Asia Cup.
The One-Day International World Cup 2023 will get underway with India’s opening match versus Australia.
The match against Australia on October 8 will mark the beginning of the World Cup campaign for the Indian national football team, which will take place at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Additionally, the much-anticipated battle between India and Pakistan will take place in Ahmedabad on October 14. The team that Rohit Sharma will be coaching will be eager to perform at their best in the upcoming competition in the hopes of finally ending their curse against the ICC and bringing the trophy back to India.
The following players are expected to be part of Team India’s World Cup roster:
Rohit Sharma (captain), Shubman Gill, KL Rahul, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, Ravindra Jadeja, Shardul Thakur, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, and Kuldeep Yadav.
