India’s A team for the forthcoming Men’s T20 Emerging Teams Asia Cup in Oman has been announced by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC). The competition, which takes place from October 18 to 27, will be captained by Tilak Varma, who will head the team of fifteen players. For the first time, the competition will be held in a T20 format, with eight teams vying for victory.
Eight teams will compete in the tournament format, split into two groups of four. The two teams that finish first in each group move on to the semi-final, and the championship game is played afterwards. The final is scheduled for October 27 after the semi-final on October 25.
In addition to Tilak, the team includes other young players including Sai Kishore, Abhishek Sharma, Nehal Wadhera, and Ayush Badoni. After winning the T20I series against Bangladesh, Abhishek will be hoping to return to his typical form for the next competition. It is important to remember, too, that Sai Kishore is leading Tamil Nadu in the Ranji Trophy, so news of his availability will be much anticipated.
