IND against AUS 2023: Todd Murphy, a rookie spinner, eliminates Cheteshwar Pujara as the latter tries a paddle sweep

On Day 2 of the upcoming Test match, Australia’s rookie spinner Todd Murphy dealt Cheteshwar Pujara yet another blow by removing him. The first of a four-match Test series between India and Australia is currently underway at Nagpur’s Vidarbha Cricket Association (VCA) Stadium. India is captained by Rohit Sharma.

The Australian team was skittled out for just 177 runs in their first innings, and Rohit Sharma and company finished the first day at 77 for the loss of one wicket and a 100-run deficit. Todd Murphy, who had previously claimed the crucial scalp of KL Rahul, struck again on Day 2 as he removed Ravichandran Ashwin from the game for 23 runs off 62 balls.
After joining the crease alongside the captain, Cheteshwar Pujara initially appeared to be in good form as he quickly hit one boundary off Murphy. Murphy, however, kept up his pace and managed to corner the Test specialist and expel him. When the spinner bowled a loose ball outside leg, Pujara attempted the paddle sweep but was unsuccessful because he got a top edge to short fine leg, making it easy for Scott Boland to catch him for just seven runs.
With 151 runs scored with Rohit and Virat Kohli on the crease at lunch, the home team is currently down by 26 runs.

On Day 1, Team India defeats the Australians.

The pacers of the Indian bowling unit delivered the first breakthroughs in the match, setting the tone for India despite the controversy surrounding the Nagpur ground. Usman Khawaja and David Warner were both decisively defeated by Mohammed Siraj and Mohammed Shami.

Star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin then assumed responsibility for completing the innings. It is important to note that Jadeja, who made his national team comeback, recorded outstanding statistics of 5/47 while Ashwin amassed a three-wicket haul to hold the opposition to a meagre 177 runs.
