Jonathan Philip Agnew, a former player for England who is now a pundit, lauded Virat Kohli for his ability to step up in challenging situations and his enjoyment of the responsibility of doing so repeatedly.
In an interview with ANI on Wednesday, Agnew said the following about the player: “He is a different sort of player than Yadav for instance.” A bit more conventional.
He is a major contributor on special occasions. He performs admirably under pressure. He thrives when faced with difficult situations. We watched him against Pakistan. That was a perfect opportunity for Virat Kohli to shine.
When asked about the matchup between the England bowlers and Virat Kohli, he stated that the England bowlers have played enough with him to know where to bowl at him because of their extensive experience.
“England is rather familiar with him. They are aware of where to aim their strikes at him. When England bowls at Kohli, they will have the impression that they can keep him under control. Yadav, on the other hand, is less predictable. According to Agrew, this competition is going to be one to keep an eye on.
According to the former player, the short square boundaries of Adelaide are likely to help batters who have the potential to be deadly if they are not managed. One such batter is Suryakumar Yadav.
“When compared to the other grounds, Adelaide has a very distinctively different shape. In this case, the straight borders are somewhat narrow, while the straight itself is quite long. They therefore own players, the most notable of them being Yadav.
They are going to attempt to get him to hit in a more centred manner. I believe that it will be a very fascinating competition. He moves at such a startlingly quick pace. “England does need to have some kind of control over him,” he said.
Agnew proposed that England’s bowlers should attempt to bowl off-pace deliveries at him in order to encourage him to aim for the larger straight boundaries.
“They can slow down the tempo and work on getting him to smash the ball straight, but he is going to work on hitting it to the side. He was responsible for Zimbabwe’s destruction, and his execution was a botched job.
They bowled a lot of full deliveries at him in the game. I anticipate that England will have plans that are comparable to ours, but that they will execute them more effectively. Agnew shared his opinion that “they have a superior class of bowlers.”
He did not pick a favourite for the semi-final matchup and instead stated that both teams will be competing at new sites with different conditions, and that the outcome of the match will be determined by what occurs on the day of the competition.
“None at all. A fresh game, with new rules and on new territory. The examination of statistics and data can be quite intriguing, but so much hinges on the events that take place on a given day.
Where the ball travels regardless of whether or not someone is there. Agnew remarked, “There are a lot of things that are beyond of my control.”
The semi-final match between India and England will take place on Thursday, November 10, at the Adelaide Oval. India will be facing off against a tough England lineup.
Fans have been hoping that the Twenty20 World Cup final will be played on November 13 at the storied Melbourne Cricket Ground between India and Pakistan.
