As part of their preparations for the 2018 inaugural U19 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, the India U19 women’s squad is currently playing a T20 series against the South Africa U19 side.
India’s senior squad member Shafali Verma is serving as the team’s captain, and the Indian side got off to a strong start in the series by winning the opening match by a score of 54 runs.
When South Africa batted, they only managed to score 83 runs in response to the 137 runs scored by India.
In addition to the performances with the bat and the ball, one moment in particular caught everyone’s attention. This moment occurred in the 17th over of the South African innings, and it was when India’s Mannat Kashyap ran out Jenna Evans at the end of the innings where she was not striking the ball. The video quickly gained widespread attention on social media.
After some time had passed, the captain of India, Shafali Verma, withdrew the appeal, and the game continued.
Shweta Sehrawat, the opening batter for India, had the highest score in the match with 40 runs in her innings. The much-touted Shafali Verma was found to be nothing more than a duck.
Both Archana Devi and Shabnam collected three wickets for the India U19 team throughout the match.
