The International Twenty20 tournament that is currently being hosted in the UAE has witnessed some exciting play on the pitch. On Sunday, Muhammad Waseem, Kieron Pollard, and Andre Fletcher all recorded lightning-fast half centuries, which contributed to the MI Emirates recording a staggering 241 for 3 in 20 overs.
In the 21st match of the franchise league, which took place on Sunday at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, MI Emirates’ left-arm medium pacer Fazalhaq Farooqi, with a lethal three-wicket spell, backed by Zahoor Khan and Imran Tahir with two wickets each, then bowled out Desert Vipers for a paltry 84 runs in 12.1 overs for a massive 157 runs win. The match was played against Desert Vipers
Waseem of the United Arab Emirates scored a magnificent knock of 86 runs off of 44 balls, including 11 boundaries and four sixes. This set the tone for the outstanding performance put up by MI Emirates.
Fletcher, who was the second batsman, made 50 runs off of 39 balls, including four fours, two sixes, and two boundaries. They contributed 141 runs to the opening partnership, which was completed in 12.3 overs as a team.
After such an impressive display from the openers, the captain of the team, Kieron Pollard, produced a 19-ball unbeaten half-century that was littered with four fours and four sixes.
Along with Dan Mousley, who smashed an undefeated innings of 31 runs off 17 balls with three fours and two sixes, he contributed to the addition of 89 runs in only 5.2 overs of the game.
A humorous occurrence was also seen by those present during the contest. During the time that Matheesha Pathirana was bowling to Mousley, he smashed a massive six that went beyond the boundaries of the stadium. A random person walking by scooped up the ball and then continued on their way.
But that wasn’t all; Pollard also hit a maximum, and it went over the fence and into the outfield. However, this time a man who was walking down the road threw the ball back inside the stadium while it was still outside.
Not only did MI Emirates achieve the highest score of the event, but they also won by the largest margin of any team in the competition.
This is also the second-highest score in a Twenty20 competition at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, behind only the 244 runs that Balkh Legends scored against Kabul Zwanan in 20 overs during the 2018 Afghanistan Premier League.
