Spinner Adil Rashid of England has risen two spots to the top of the ICC Men’s T20I Player Rankings following a string of strong performances in the five-match series against the West Indies, which is tied at 2-2 with one match remaining.
In the three games played this past week, Adil Rashid claimed five wickets to surpass fellow leg-spinners Ravi Bishnoi of India and Rashid Khan of Afghanistan and take the top spot on the bowlers’ list for the first time in his career. The second spot, which Adil Rashid previously held in September 2023, was his prior best.
Among the others to progress are left-arm wrist spinners Tabraiz Shamsi of South Africa and Kuldeep Yadav of India. In the third and final match of the series against South Africa in Johannesburg, Yadav took five wickets and moved up to 24th spot, while Shamsi has gone into the top 10.
The current weekly rankings update has resulted in some players moving higher, including fast bowler Mohammad Siraj of India (up 37 places to 69th) and spinner Keshav Maharaj of South Africa (up five places to 19th).
After smashing a match-winning 82 not out off 52 deliveries in the second match of the series, West Indies opener Brandon King moved up six spots to a career-best sixth place in the batting rankings. Nicholas Pooran moved up two spots to 12th place, and Rovman Powell moved up 14 places to 23rd place.
In the list headed by teammate Suryakumar Yadav, England’s Phil Salt has soared to the twentieth spot, while Yashaswi Jaiswal of India has climbed to the fourteenth spot.
Even though Ireland’s players were in the spotlight following their 2-0 series victory over Zimbabwe, Babar Azam has reclaimed his position as the top hitter in the ODI rankings after Shubman Gill did not play in the ODIs against South Africa.
The batting rankings saw gains for Harry Tector (up one spot to seventh) and Curtis Campher (up 19 places to 73rd), while Mark Adair (up nine places to 24th), Andy McBrine (up two places to 27th), and Joshua Little (up 28 places to 34th) all saw increases in the most recent update.
While Trent Boult of New Zealand has risen one spot to seventh place and Shoriful Islam of Bangladesh has gone up 14 spots to 59th place in the bowling rankings, KL Rahul has also climbed in the batting rankings, moving up two spots to 16th.
After hitting 164 in the first innings of the first Test match against Pakistan, Australia’s opener David Warner moved up nine spots to 27th place in the latest Test rankings update, while Usman Khawaja moved up three spots to fourth with scores of 41 and 90. The Pakistani batsmen to advance are Agha Salman (up two spots to 32nd) and opener Imam Ul Haq (up one spot to 29th).
Josh Hazlewood is in the top 10, spinner Nathan Lyon is in fifth place, and Australia’s captain Pat Cummins has crept up to third in the Test bowling rankings. Pakistan’s newcomers, Aamer Jamal and Khurram Shahzad, came in at 74th and 87th, respectively, in the rankings.
