Ramiz Raja, the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board, is of the opinion that in order for the national side to “create world headlines,” they will need to win the Test series against England that is being played in Pakistan.
After the final of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy on Tuesday, Ramiz made it clear to the reporters that he had not given up on the idea of having drop-in pitches for the big centres in Pakistan. He made this statement while talking to the reporters at the Gaddafi stadium after the final.
“I have given just one message to the players, and that is that if they want to make international headlines, they must beat England in the series,” he added. “I want them to make headlines because they are playing for the world.”
The former captain also stated that the current Pakistan side has the ability to defeat England, but that a great deal will rely on the kind of surfaces that both teams play on throughout the series.
“When Australia arrived earlier this year, the fields were freshly laid out, so they played differently. However, now that they have settled down quite a bit, and we are anticipating better sporting tracks versus England,” Ramiz added. “When England comes, we are expecting more sporting tracks.”
The chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) added that Pakistan’s cricket will benefit greatly from the opportunity to play host to Australia, England, and New Zealand all in the same season, and he expressed his hope that England’s tour would be successful.
After the English players arrived in Pakistan, Ramiz expressed his delight at the reception they received from the local fans.
