Shakib Al Hasan, a veteran all-rounder for Bangladesh, is known for displaying his anger on the field, particularly toward the umpires. This has earned him a reputation.
During the course of many cricket matches, particularly those played on domestic grounds, Shakib was observed on multiple times losing his temper. Another incident of the same nature occurred when the outstanding player from Bangladesh confronted the leg umpire in a dispute over a wide-ball judgement.
Shakib was seen yelling at the umpire because he was upset that the decision did not go in his favour. A video of the event has since gone popular on social media, and the footage shows Shakib screaming at the umpire.
Shakib has been expressing his dissatisfaction with the way the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) is being managed in public statements. Just recently, he was quoted as saying that if he were put in charge, things wouldn’t take him long to mend even if they were broken.
Now, the Bangladesh star is generating headlines for all the wrong reasons in the context of the Bangladesh Premier League itself.
During a match of the Bangladesh Premier League, a bouncer that got beyond Shakib was not ruled a wide. Shakib was so incensed by the ruling that he yelled at the umpire and charged at him in an attempt to get his attention. According to reports, the umpire deemed the delivery to be fair and noted that it was the first bouncer of the over.
The bowler, who is 35 years old, actually charged toward the umpire at the bowler’s end and exchanged a few words with him before going back to his crease.
Famously, during the 2021 season of the Dhaka Premier League, Shakib lost his cool to the point that he uprooted the stumps and smashed them on the ground in protest of an umpiring decision. This incident became part of cricket lore. Shakib, on the other hand, made the decision to apologise once he regained his senses.
“I feel terrible that I lost my cool and ruined the game for everyone, but especially for those who were watching it from home. Please accept my sincere apology.
An experienced player like myself should not have reacted in such a manner, but despite the fact that it should never occur, it does so occasionally “That is what Shakib had remarked at the time.
More recently, Shakib used the example of the Bollywood film “Nayak” to illustrate how quickly he would be able to solve matters in BPL. He said that it wouldn’t take him long to do so.
“If they named me the CEO of BPL, it would take one or two months for me to make all of the necessary corrections. I am assuming that you have seen the movie Nayak. One day is all you need to do anything you set your mind to “In a press conference, Shakib had made the following statement.
Shakib got 67 runs during the BPL encounter, but his team, Fortune Barishal, was unable to come out on top against Sylhet Strikers.
