In the third and final test of the bilateral series, England under the leadership of Ben Stokes defeated Pakistan under the captaincy of Babar Azam to resurrect their chances of winning the second edition of the ICC World Test Championship.
At the Karachi National Stadium on Tuesday, the England team captained by Stokes finished off a historic whitewash of Pakistan by defeating the disheartened hosts by an eight-wicket margin to record their third consecutive victory over Babar and Company. This victory gave England their first ever clean sweep of Pakistan in a series.
After his team’s resounding victory over Pakistan in the third test match, England captain Ben Stokes accomplished a fantastic achievement that was previously accomplished only by former Indian captain Virat Kohli. This is an interesting development.
After England crushing victory against Pakistan on Tuesday, Stokes became the seventh skipper in history to win nine Test matches in a single calendar year. The Englishman has led England to victory in 9 of 10 Tests throughout the 2022 season, suffering only a solitary loss in the process.
The batting icon Kohli, who also happens to be India’s most successful Test captain, led the Indian Test team to nine victories in 2016 while serving in that capacity. Throughout the 2016 season, Kohli and Team India maintained their perfect record.
In addition, former captains Graeme Smith, Ricky Ponting, Michael Vaughan, Steve Waugh, and Clive Lloyd have all won nine tests in a single calendar year while playing for their respective teams.
For the first time since 2010, England has won nine or more Test matches in a single year thanks to the leadership of Ben Stokes. England, spearheaded by Stokes, has also given Pakistan its first home whitewash in the five-day format of the game, which is the longest and oldest format of the game.
In the test match that took place in Karachi between the two teams, a teenage player named Harry Brook scored the winning century (111), while a bowler named Rehan Ahmed made history by becoming the youngest bowler to ever take a five-wicket haul in a test match.
Both Brook and Ahmed were instrumental in England’s victory over Pakistan by eight wickets in the test match that was played in Karachi. The series was won by Brook, who was also awarded Player of the Series.
“We have a plan for how we want to play, and the challenge is to play on all types of pitches. However, we have committed to our gameplan, and we have been able to adjust pretty well with both the bat and the ball. Everyone delivered.
A lot has been spoken about our batting style, but our bowling also performed quite well. Belief is the deciding factor here. It is unimaginable that everyone on the team believes in what we were attempting to accomplish, and the fact that this belief is shared by all members of the group makes it an incredible accomplishment to be able to lead the group with complete self-assurance.
At one point or another, each person took the stage and delivered a performance that was worthy of winning the game “Stokes, the captain of England, spoke on the game after it was over.
