It would seem that Indian off-spinner R. Ashwin, who possesses a broad cricketing mind, would be content with his current skill set. This is not at all the case, though. Ashwin, who is currently leading the Dindigul Dragons in the Tamil Nadu Premier League 2024, discussed the little improvements he has made to his all-around abilities, especially with the bat.
Speaking about how he was amplifying his power-hitting, which he did mostly by expertly traversing boundaries, the former cricket player disclosed that this was a process that was ongoing. He continued by stressing how crucial it is to hit the ball on both sides of the boundary.
“After all, isn’t everything a work in progress? Ask Shahrukh Khan about it, if you would. How does he hit with power? How can the ball be hit through the leg-side and off-side? Ashwin said,
“It’s all about repetitions and understanding angles and triggers,” according to on the eve of the TNPL final.
“I know I can knock the ball down the ground and use my feet, but I felt like I wanted to broaden my game and my horizons square of the wicket in the last IPL. I had to question myself, “Do I want to look into other options?” Thus, it provides me with a fresh direction to investigate and maintain my interest in the game if I can pose that question and discover an answer, Ashwin continued.
Ashwin has opened the batting or played at No. 3 in five of his eight innings in this season, echoing his early years when he was a top-order batsman before switching to being a full-time offie. With an astounding strike rate of 166.66, he has amassed 200 runs in eight innings and would be eager to play one last big blow to increase his team’s chances of winning a TNPL title for the first time.
