Young Indian hitter Prithvi Shaw is having a difficult time in his career right now. Notably, he established his credibility at a very young age by leading his team to the Under-19 World Cup victory and made his international debut with a magnificent century in Test cricket.
The 2023 Duleep Trophy final between West Zone and South Zone was recently played at Bengaluru’s M Chinnaswamy Stadium, and the 23-year-old player participated in it. The West Zone batsman hit a half-century in the summit match’s first innings but struggled in the game’s closing frames. Notably, the South Zone defeated the team coached by Priyank Panchal by 75 runs.
Prithvi Shaw was questioned about his perspective on the scenario of being cut from a squad during a joint interview with Wisden and Cricbuzz.
The batter said that he was unable to ascertain the cause behind his dismissal from the Indian team. He said, “I went to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru and passed most of the tests, but I was disappointed because I didn’t get picked for the West Indies tour.”
“I didn’t learn the reason why I was let go [from the Indian team] at the time. It might be fitness, according to someone. I did, however, come here [to Bengaluru] and passed all of the NCA’s tests, scored runs once more, and rejoined the T20 team. However, I once more missed my chance in the West Indies. Despite my disappointment, you must continue on. I am helpless and unable to engage in conflict. I simply prefer to be in my own space as a person, Shaw remarked.
“I hear a lot of negative things about myself. But those who know me well are aware of who I am. I don’t like to make friends, and I don’t have any. This generation is experiencing these things. Nobody else can hear what you’re thinking. Personally, I find it to be really frightful. I have nothing to say, yet darr lagta hai aajkal. I’m hesitant to express myself on social media, “Agle din social media mein aa jaata hai.” All of it inevitably surfaces on social media). I barely have a few close pals, and even with them I don’t discuss many things, only a few,” he continued.
