On January 18, at the Dubai International Stadium, the six ILT20 captains had a press conference before an international audience. The captains expressed their joy, pride, and eagerness for the upcoming second season throughout the event. ILT20 league, now ranked as the second-most-watched T20 tournament globally, never fails to captivate cricket fans with its captivating matches and all-star lineups.
Alongside the trophy were the team captains, dressed in their respective team colors: Sunil Narine of the Abu Dhabi Knight Riders, Chris Lynn of the Gulf Giants (Defending Champions), Nicholas Pooran of the MI Emirates, Tom Kohler Cadmore of the Sharjah Warriors, Colin Munro of the Desert Vipers (Runners-Up), and Sam Billings of the Dubai Capitals.
“With James at the helm, coach Andy Flower has consistently demonstrated a winning touch wherever he goes, consistently clinching trophies,” stated Chris Lynn, a dominant player for the Gulf Giants. The fact that last year’s blueprint worked well gives us more reason to be confident in its efficacy, which motivates us to stick with our current course of action. Our attention is still fully on carrying out our predetermined plans, but we also pay close attention to adjusting to the current circumstances since we understand how important they are to our overall strategy.
“Our emphasis is on going back to the drawing board, meticulously crafting a robust team composition that is poised to consistently deliver the desired results,” stated Colin Munro, Captain of the Desert Vipers.
“Taking forward valuable learnings from our experiences last year, we have identified areas for improvement,” stated Sunil Narine, captain of the Abu Dhabi Knight Riders. But we’ll continue to approach each game as it comes, keeping our attention on the process from Game 1.
Our steadfast dedication is focused on achieving the ultimate goal—winning the ILT20 trophy.
Sam Billings, vice captain of the Dubai Capitals, expressed his excitement at the idea of playing alongside David Warner, a player he has faced many times in the past. The change from playing with Colin to facing him head-to-head perfectly captures the spirit of Twenty20 cricket.
“I am truly grateful for the incredible opportunity to lead MI Emirates within the MI franchise,” stated Captain Nicholas Pooran of MI Emirates. Our group is committed to upholding uniformity and giving careful execution of our strategy first priority.
“As we embark on the season at our home ground against the defending champions, Gulf Giants, I am confident in our ability to present a well-balanced squad this year, a significant improvement from the previous season,” Sharjah Warriors’ Tom Kohler Cadmore stated.
