From June 1 to June 29, the USA and the West Indies will play host to the much-anticipated ICC T20 World Cup 2024. The 20 teams are divided into four groups of five teams each, and the top two teams from each group move on to the Super Eight round. India is in Group A with Pakistan, the United States, Ireland, and Canada, their bitter rivals.
As the T20 World Cup begins on June 1, there is a May 1 deadline for all squad submissions. The ICC technical committee will then need to grant teams permission.
Notably, changes may be made by May 25 without the approval of the International Cricket Council (ICC), as this deadline is still preliminary.
Because of this, the Indian Premier League (IPL) Selection Committee of the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) will have the full 2024 season to evaluate player performances and decide who will play in the ICC event. Senior Indian hitters Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will also be put to the test in the IPL 2024. In addition, the BCCI Selection Committee will choose a roster of fifteen players, excluding three traveling reserves.
Even though Rohit is expected to lead the team, there are rumors that star all-rounder Hardik Pandya will take his position. Additionally, on June 5 at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York, Team India will play their first match of the season against Ireland. The Men in Blue will play Pakistan, their bitter rivals, on June 9.
“We are somewhat aware of the team. Of course, though, the IPL will win. Selecting the team must be done on the basis of form rather than past individual performances. Up to that point, anyone can be chosen. The decision of the selectors on Virat and Rohit’s inclusion in the team remains. According to InsideSport, a senior BCCI official stated, “They are available for selection in T20Is.”
