Babar Azam, a star Pakistani batsman who had previously risen to the top of the ICC ODI batters rankings, recently replaced Shubman Gill in that position.
Shubman Gill absence from the current ODI series with South Africa is what caused this change. At 824 rating points, Babar is currently in first place, and Gill is right behind him in second place (810 points).
According to the ICC ODI rankings, David Warner (745 points), Rohit Sharma (754 ratings), and Virat Kohli (775 ratings) are ranked three, four, and five, respectively. Virat and Rohit will be back for the next Test series against South Africa after taking a short vacation from white-ball cricket. Warner, who is now competing for Australia against Pakistan in a Test series, intends to end his Test cricket career following this one. Australia easily defeated Pakistan, thanks in part to Warner’s outstanding effort, which included a century in the opening game.
Babar Azam dropped one spot from fourth to fifth (801 rating points) in Test cricket as a result of his poor performance in the opening Test against Australia, which Pakistan lost by 360 runs. During the Perth Test, he scored 14 runs in the second inning and 21 runs in the first. After four straight losses during their dismal ICC World Cup campaign, Babar resigned as captain.
In the meantime, following a strong performance in the current five-match series against the West Indies, English spinner Adil Rashid has risen to the top of the T20I Bowler’s Rankings. In the last three games, Rashid has taken five wickets to take the top rank. There is one more encounter in the series, and after winning the fourth Twenty20 International against the West Indies by an overwhelming 75 runs, the series is tied at 2-2.
In the same rankings, Kuldeep Yadav and Tabraiz Shami have also advanced.
