Dinesh Karthik, a veteran wicketkeeper and hitter for India, thinks that South Africa would be making a mistake if they didn’t include Faf du Plessis in their World Cup team for the tournament in India in October and November. Du Plessis stopped playing Test cricket in 2021, which was also the last time he played for South Africa at an international level. He has already said that he wants to play white-ball cricket for South Africa again.
Karthik said that Du Plessis’s good play doesn’t surprise him because he is a great player. The 37-year-old has also said that the Proteas batsman is a good boss. He also said that Du Plessis has been very consistent over the past five years, and that he has been even more consistent, successful, and powerful over the past year.
“Faf’s play doesn’t surprise me at all because I think he’s a great player. He is also a very good boss. In the last four or five years of the IPL, he’s been very consistent, and in the last year, he’s been even more consistent, successful, and powerful, Karthik said on the most recent episode of The ICC Review.
Karthik then said that, in his opinion, Du Plessis is ready to play in the 50-over World Cup. He also said that the 38-year-old batter is a leader and a hitter who can make a difference. He also said that he would be happy if South Africa chose Du Plessis for the team because he could make a difference in the World Cup.
“I think South Africa is losing out if they don’t take him to the World Cup.
I think he’s all set. He is a leader and a hitter who can make a difference. So, I really hope Faf says yes when South Africa asks him, because he will make a difference at that World Cup if he goes,” he said.
Du Plessis has been one of the best players in the 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL) for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). The captain of the RCB team is currently at the top of the IPL 2023 Orange Cap list. He has scored 702 runs in 13 games, with an average of 58.5 and a strike rate of 153.95.
