One of the Kolkata Knight Riders’ most reliable players in the Indian Premier League has been Nitish Rana. The 30-year-old middle-order batsman finished with 413 runs in 14 matches at a strike rate of 140.95 during the competition’s most recent iteration. In 2024, he hopes to improve and eventually make India’s squad for the T20 World Cup, which is scheduled to start on June 1st, immediately following the Indian Premier League.
Notably, Nitish Rana made his international debut in 2021 thanks to a strong season in the lucrative league. However, he didn’t have many opportunities and gradually faded into obscurity. To regain his place in the national team, the Delhi-born cricketer is hoping for a strong IPL campaign and 600 runs after a strong domestic campaign for Uttar Pradesh.
“We have to keep focused on the here and now, but everyone wants to play for their nation, and many players will always have that as a goal. While I too hope to be chosen for the World T20 team, my current focus is solely on the Indian Premier League. In an interview with the Times of India, Nitish Rana stated, “I think I can get 600 runs in this tournament and I will be aiming for that.”
This time, Starc will be among our featured performers: Nitish Rana
Mitchell Starc, an Australian bowler, cost INR 24.75 crore to be signed by two-time winners KKR. One of the main worries for the Shreyas Iyer-led team in recent times has been death over bowling, and the team spent a lot of money to sign Starc to address that issue. Speaking on the subject, Rana said that the team’s top pacer will be among its best players and that his price won’t stop him.
“Starc has too much experience to be swayed by the cost. He has filled the void left by the death bowling that we had been lacking. He is aware of what must be done. He might even be one of our big performers this time, in my opinion. Every bowler in T20 cricket, of course, knows going into a match that he may go for runs, and Starc is ready for that. Given the inexperience of KKR’s other pacers, Starc won’t have much help. We want the three spinners to be in charge of the game. That doesn’t imply we haven’t given the pace department any thought,” said Rana.
