“I scored 200 a few weeks ago, I’m not in a slump” – David Warner on his Test form

"I scored 200 a few weeks ago, I'm not in a slump" - David Warner on his Test form

Throughout the first two Tests of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023, India dominated Australia. Australians suffered two crushing defeats at the hands of the hosts, who performed admirably. Due to an elbow injury he sustained in the second Test, Australia’s opener David Warner has been ruled out for the remainder of the series. As a result, the southpaw has returned home and will no longer participate in the series.

In contrast, Warner was unable to produce impressive numbers in the two games he participated, causing many analysts to speculate about his future. There have also been multiple rumours that selectors are considering dropping Warner from the starting lineup.

I’ve always stated that I’ll play till 2024: David Warner
Warner recently spoke on his future inclusion in the Australian squad, stating that he will accept his fate if he is no longer required for the Test squad.
Warner was cited by News18 as saying, “I’ve always said I’m playing till 2024; if the selectors believe that I’m not worthy of my spot, then so be it, and I can move on to the white-ball stuff; I scored 200 a couple of weeks ago, so I’m not in a rut.”

“I have the next 12 months; the team has a lot of cricket to play, and if I can continue scoring runs and putting my best foot forward for the team, and if I can maintain my position, it would be wonderful for the squad. It’s easy pickings when you’re 36 almost 37 years old. I’ve also witnessed this with former players. So if I’m relieving strain from the rest of the team and no one else is concerned about them, I’m happy to do that “he continued.
