I remember when I was a kid and I was watching the IPL that I wanted to play there one day: Toby Kerr

Amelia Kerr, a talented all-rounder for New Zealand who has become one of the most in-demand cricketers in the world, is relishing the opportunity to fulfill a lifelong dream and compete in the Women’s Premier League’s debut season. Kerr, one of the top players for Mumbai Indians thus far in the season, also had high appreciation for her captain Harmanpreet Kaur.

Amelia Kerr made a name for herself for New Zealand after scoring the youngest cricketer to surpass 200 runs at the age of 17 by blasting a record-breaking 232 off just 145 deliveries in female ODI against Ireland. In the same match’s second innings, she backed up her outstanding batting effort with a spectacular five-for.

The 22-year-old made an immediate impact on the inaugural WPL and has been one of the main players for her team throughout the season. Kerr, an IPL fan since she was a little girl, expressed her joy at taking part in the prestigious competition.
“That is fantastic. I used to watch the men’s IPL growing up and I remember saying I want to play there one day,” Kerr told The Hindu about her time in the WPL.

It’s nice to get the chance to perform with Harmanpreet Kaur: Kerr
The cricketer from Wellington, who has frequently faced off against Harmanpreet Kaur, the captain of the Mumbai Indians, in international competition, commended the Indian captain for her leadership abilities. She recognized the soothing effect the Indian all-rounder has on her colleagues both on the field and in the locker room.

It’s enjoyable to get to play with her, I suppose. She is incredible. She has a history of destroying teams with her batting, and she has replicated that performance in the competition. She is a fantastic boss. All the kids idolize her and look up to her when she enters the changing room. She exudes calmness and instills confidence in your abilities,” the player continued.
